Demolition Of Historic Wake County School Begins
Demolition of Swift Creek Elementary School, one of the oldest schools in Wake County, began today (July 29) on Tryon Road, as reported by ABC11.
Originally built in the 1920s, the demolition clears the path for a new school. The new building will be completed by 2025 and will accomodate 500 students. Classes will be held at the WCPSS space at Timber Drive during construction.
The renovations are a part of a seven-year, $40 million capital improvement plan approved early this year. The project will also include three new schools and eight renovations. The plan will also partially fund other schools and renovations.
