STATEWIDE — If you sometimes use Boar’s Head deli products, you should know that some are currently being recalled.
The USDA says Boar’s Head liverwurst and other items may have been contaminated with listeria. These products were produced between June 11th and July 17th, and are expected to expire by the end of August.
Listeria can cause a bacterial infection – known as listeriosis – that sometimes leads to fevers, headaches, neck stiffness, fatigue, confusion, diarrhea, and vomiting.
All total, about 208,000 pounds of products are being recalled. See product labels here.

If you have any questionable items in your refrigerator, you are urged to return them or throw them away, and clean your fridge to be extra safe.
Listeria cases linked to deli meats have sickened people in at least 13 states, and killed two, in the last few months. That being said, it is not clear if any Boar’s Head items are connected.
According to the CDC, about 260 people die every year from listeriosis. Pregnant individuals, newborns, elderly adults, and those with weakened immune systems are most at risk for serious illness.
If you are feeling unwell, get medical help as soon as possible. You are also encouraged to contact your local public health department, in order to help them find the root of recent listeria cases.
